    Why Audiology: Stuart has always been interested in sound perception. He took several audiology hearing science courses that encouraged him to pursue a career in audiology. 

    Organizations: Stuart is currently the American Speech-Language and Hearing (ASHA) representative to the American Medical Association’s Editorial panel for Common Procedural Terminology (CPT). He is a co-chair for ASHA’s Healthcare Economics Committee. He previously served as president of the Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Association, president of the Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation and chairman of Clear Lake Parks & Recreation Board.

    Tanya Harper Rowe

    Why Audiology: Tanya wanted to work in healthcare and took in audiology, pharmacy and pre-med classes. She spent a summer job shadowing a local pharmacist and at Hearing Associates. Tanya was impressed with how passionate the team was about helping patients with hearing loss. As an audiologist, she can diagnose ear and hearing problems and improve patient hearing and communication abilities.

    Education: Bachelor of Arts in Audiology from the University of Iowa, Master’s in Audiology from Northwestern University and a doctorate from A.T. Still University.

    Why Audiology: Rachael has always liked working with kids and wanted to help children with hearing loss as a speech pathologist. However, after studying audiology, she realized she enjoyed the science of hearing and the technology of hearing aids and became an audiologist.

    Why Audiology: Christine discovered audiology while studying speech-language pathology. After shadowing an audiologist during a clinical placement, she realized she had a strong passion for audiology. Afterward, she decided she would continue her education in audiology instead of speech-language pathology.

    Education: Bachelor of Applied Arts in Communication Disorders and a Doctorate of Audiology from Central Michigan University.

    Why Audiology: Caroline has always wanted to work in healthcare and discovered audiology while studying speech-language pathology. She fell in love with her audiology undergraduate coursework and joined a research lab working with cochlear implant recipients while finishing her degree. She then stayed at Iowa to pursue her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology. Caroline loves working with older adults and building a relationship with patients through their hearing care journey. She has a special interest in hearing conservation efforts and educating the public about protecting their hearing.

    Bryce Phillips

    Bryce has always enjoyed helping people, whether in work or through service. Bryce was raised in a home where he and his parents cared for many physically and intellectually disabled adults, some who had hearing loss. Bryce later fell in love with audiology while practicing social work and subsequently completed a doctorate in audiology. He enjoys using the science of audiology and the art of fitting hearing devices in helping children, adults, and families. Bryce enjoys learning more about science and technology through ongoing training and conferences.

    Education: B.S. in Social Work from Brigham Young University-Idaho, B.S. in Communicative Disorders, and Au.D. in Audiology from University of North Texas.

    Hobbies: Spending time with family and friends, exploring, hiking, going to national parks for kids to earn Junior Ranger badges, watching movies, and eating fun food.

    Family: Bryce has an amazing wife, Kristen, and four busy kids, William, Emily, Fredrik and Katelyn.

    Why Audiology: After teaching preschool for ten years, Carmen decided to follow her passion for helping others. Her interest in psychology inspired her to obtain her second degree and pursue a career in social work before making her way to Hearing Associates. She enjoys working with people of all ages and seeing how their lives are forever changed by hearing aids.

    Why Audiology:  Katelin strives to incorporate as much joy in her life as possible which includes the work she does. Hearing Associates is not just a place of employment is it a home, a community and a place that through the sense of compassion that they invoke, inspires Katelin to come in every day with an open heart and smile on her face with the hope that she can potentially improve one of their patients’ days by being friendly and inviting the moment they enter. Katelin fully believes in Hearing Associates ability to provide exceptional patient care as it goes above and beyond routine appointments and being a part of this process and someone’s hearing health journey is deeply important to her.

    Current residence: Albert Lea, Minnesota

    Education: Albert Lea, Minnesota graduate with 38 years of customer service/administrative experience.

    Hobbies and Interests: Entertaining and spending time with family, friends and granddaughters. Walking, watching sports and movies and listening to a variety of music. She is a Co-Chairperson for two non-profits here in Freeborn County. The first is Jack Frost Closet, which  provides winter outerwear for families in need, and the second is the Memory Café, which supports people with Alzheimer’s and their families.
